Card making
Card making is the perfect craft activity to do with your kids. Children love being creative and making things for the people they care about. Making cards is so easy and a lot of fun for both you and your children. Whether you want to make something for a special occasion or you are just looking for something to do on a rainy afternoon, you can’t go wrong with card making.
Plus, it is very inexpensive. You only need a few simple supplies to get started. For younger children, all you need is different coloured cardstock, a pair of child-friendly scissors and some glue and you’re all set. Kids love playing with colours and will enjoy cutting out different shapes to stick to the front of their card. If you wish, you can also give them some fun stickers, stamps or punches to use.
If your children are a little older and more sophisticated, you may wish to invest in some fancier supplies. Scrapbook stores offer a wide selection of patterned papers in lots of different colours and themes that are ideal for card making. While you are there, you may wish to also pick up some easy to use embellishments like stickers, rub-ons and brads. Thanks to the rise in popularity of both scrapbooking and card making, the range of items to choose from is almost endless. In the end, choose what you and your children like and what you can afford.
Once you have your supplies, the fun starts. Sit down with your kids and start playing. You can make your own cards along side them and enjoy some quality time with them. Let them play with the supplies you have provided and encourage them to come up with their own designs. They don’t have to perfect – just as long as you are all having fun.
