Card Making
If you’re anything like me you always have tons of scraps left over after scrapbooking – little snippets of paper that you just couldn’t possibly throw away, an occasional sticker or rub-on that’s just too cute not to use and perhaps a few funky brads and eyelets. The problem is, there’s never enough to make another complete layout. So what do you do with it all?
Card making of course!
Making cards from leftover scrapbooking supplies is a great way to use all those bits and bobs that you would otherwise leave lying around. It’s quick (you can make multiple cards in the time it takes to complete just one layout) and lots of fun. You can play around with different colours, different embellishments and different techniques without having to worry about whether or not you’ll mess up some of your favourite supplies.
Plus it comes with the added benefit of being able to create personalised mementos for your loved ones. Who doesn’t like receiving a handmade card at Christmas or on your birthday? Your friends and family will treasure the thought and the effort you have put into creating something special and unique just for them.
Creating cards from your leftover scraps is easy. Just treat it like a mini layout. I often find the easiest approach is to choose a picture (for example, a sticker or a stamped image) and build the card around that. I treat my picture almost like the main photo on a scrapbooking page. I choose my papers and colours based on the colours in the picture and design my card to highlight it.
If you haven’t tried it yet, give card making a go. You’ll be surprised how much fun you have, but I warn you, it is very addictive!
